VANCOUVER (Reuters) - A recent run-up by Canadian forestry stocks has investors in the downtrodden sector basking in a warm glow, but that could fade as quickly as it appeared if the industry returns to its self-destructive tendencies.

According to the Russian State Statistics Service, in 2009 export volume of timber and pulp and paper products from Russia decreased by 15.4%, which can be explained by significant decline in supplied volume of unprocessed timber.
Demand and production declining in the woodworking industry reached the lowest point. However, with this stage passed, manufacturers and authorities are to invest more in modernization, construction and infrastructure in order to return back to the pre-crisis indicators.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development, fiberboard production output decreased by 26.1%, of chipboards – by 20.7%, plywood – by 18.7%, sawn timber 12.2%, door and window units – by 33.4 and 46.1% respectively.
